One of the quirks of history is that Louis Pasteur never liked beer. He discovered germ theory, developed several vaccines, founded the science of microbiology, and his work in fermentation processes and his invention of pasteurization saved the French beer industry from ruin. But he never liked beer.
During some bacterial experiments with a colleague, the two scientists tasted the brew. With a smack of his lips Pasteur's partner said, "The work is finished, Louis! This beer is perfect!"
