One of the worst things we can try to do in religious practice is to be overly holy, as if any of that matters to the One who is all holy. Any time we try it we usually fall on our faces, disgusting not only to ourselves, but also to anyone else who has to share planet space with us. Any of the saints I have known are plain and ordinary people with no attention drawn to themselves, but pointing outward to others.
