In our little Free Methodist Church, long ago, Brother Parker was always the last to speak during the Thursday night testimony meetings. After the small flock had all taken their turns, Brother Parker would create a dramatic pause by just sitting still. Everyone knew, everyone waited, and the pastor took a deep breath. Then, slowly Brother Parker's large frame would come to a standing position and he'd start out. It was always the same. "I'm not sure God can ever forgive me." Then he'd take a good-sized pause. "I've done some awful things. (Pause) I've repented and I've confessed.
