Over the space of several years a badly split congregation gradually regained its unity. Through prayer and much personal encouragement on the part of the pastor and several lay leaders, divisions between various boards in the church were faced openly. Differences began to be articulated calmly rather than repressed or blurted out in moments of hot anger. Officers once stymied by their disagreements now found themselves working together to discern pathways of constructive action.
