Paul urges us to walk in the way of the Spirit and not in the way of the flesh. If you remember your history lessons from your study of ancient Egypt, then you know that a sarcophagus is the huge stone coffin in which the pharaohs and others spend eternity. One pastor reflects that he never forgets that the root word for "sarcophagus" is sarx, the word Paul uses here in Romans. It means flesh. He can't forget it because his Greek professor did a great job of talking about the way the sarcophagus was used to preserve the flesh of the royal leaders.
