The people had seen a lame man healed. They were filled with awe and and wonder. They wanted to know exactly what had happened. And Peter, as any good preacher should do, made it clear that the credit for the lame man's healing should not be given to either John or him but to Jesus of Nazareth. Peter pointed to the power of Jesus Christ as the reason for the man's cure. This was the very same Jesus the people had rejected and slain. This was God's Son whom God himself had raised from the dead.
