Perhaps the temple officials who allowed the money-changers and purveyors of perfection for sacrifice to deal within the temple precincts were not much different from many well-meaning boards of trustees and financial officers within churches. The money-changers were not really a problem -- they were there because someone decided it was necessary that they be, to serve a purpose that was essential to the operation of the temple. Banks, mutual funds, and other means of financial control serve many purposes which are seen as just as essential to the churches now.
