Perhaps you have met (or been) one of those novice gardeners who saw those first green sprouts in a new garden plot and energetically watered, cultivated, and nurtured them until they became large enough to identify as weeds! Weeds can be beautiful things when they are the first greenery to appear after the bleakness of winter, but if the goal is fresh vegetables, they are an enemy. Gardens that are overgrown with weeds do not produce as we would like. Some have used the image that the church is our human attempt to try and reclaim the Garden of Eden.
