In the popular film, Saving Private Ryan, commemorating the D-Day invasion, the story is framed with scenes of an elderly American soldier visiting the military cemetery above Omaha Beach in Normandy, France. The old soldier searches for a particular grave and name. Upon finding the name he seeks, he falls to his knees crying. As the audience gazes into his eyes the screen fades to the story and a retelling of the invasion. At the end of the movie the film returns to the same eyes. In the background his family approaches to see if he is all right.
