The prophet Isaiah provides a vision at the conclusion of his book, chapters sixty-five and sixty-six, that depicts the new earth and the new heaven that God is going to fulfill. It is a vision of "the new age" that is carried forth into the New Testament in 2 Peter 3:13 and Revelation 21:1.
In the United States, as we approach July 4, this vision also raises the issue of whether we are bringing in a new world by our political activities, or whether we can ignore the political realm since the new age appears to be the product of God's hand.
