Reverend Phillips Brooks wrote the Christmas carol, "O Little Town Of Bethlehem." On another occasion he said, "Bad is the day for every man when he becomes absolutely satisfied with the life he is leading, with the thoughts he is thinking, with the deeds he is doing." When he died, his congregation in Boston commissioned an artist to sculpt a statue in his memory. And he did. It was a statue of Jesus with his hand on Brooks standing in the pulpit. The artist had interviewed everyone he could find who knew Phillips Brooks.
