Sam Johnson died last week and his death sent the little congregation in Perryville into the depths of despair. For the past 40 years, Sam had been the most important leader in the Perryville church. He taught the adult Sunday school class, usually chaired the church board, and could be counted on to settle every dispute which arose. In addition, he was both wealthy and generous.
