Sandy is severely allergic to shellfish. One bite and she has to inject herself with epinephrine and even then will probably spend several days in the hospital. Her family is all aware of her condition and will go to great lengths at family gatherings to make sure that she does not come anywhere near shellfish or even anything made with shellfish.

Herb is asthmatic and cannot abide cigarette smoke at all. Everyone in his family is aware of this and goes to great lengths to make sure no one smokes anywhere in his vicinity.
