Seldom do most worshippers sense...

Seldom do most worshippers sense the presence of Christ when we are at worship. There is always the temptation to let our thoughts dwell on many other things that cross our minds. In the early Middle Ages Saint Jerome had to spend a day travelling on his horse in the company of some friends. He spent his time reading a manuscript which entirely absorbed him and made the time of travel pass quickly. As a result, he lost all awareness of his surroundings as he buried his face in the papers. He knew that sometime during the day his path would lead him along the shore of a beautiful lake.
