Six job-seekers in Lyon, France, where unemployment reached 12.7 percent (a post-World War II high), distributed 12,000 dinner placemats with their resumes printed on them in the hopes of finding jobs. In another situation in Detroit, Michigan, promoters for an international exhibition for female graphic designers borrowed the title, "And She Told Two Friends," from an old Faberge organic shampoo commercial from the 1970s. When people want to promote themselves or some product, they will try whatever it takes to get the job done.
