So many times a pastor listens to the complaints of a person against the rest of the family: I, of course, Pastor, have done my best, said only what was true, and am misunderstood. If only you could be there when we're fighting, you would see how wonderful I am and how misunderstood! Or, in the midst of household discussion, how often do we say (or hear): "What did I say that made you angry? All I did was ask what you'd done with your day!" "All I said was ..." probably accompanies more misunderstandings than any other phrase. And what is the response?
