In the summer of 1990 in Detroit, a group of workers digging up ground to put in a sewer line discovered a heap of buried body parts. The police were called in and for two days dug up ground, removing limbs, trying to identify and match them with missing people. They thought they had come upon the gravesite of victims of a mass murderer. After several days, they figured out that the two dozen arms and legs were amputated limbs that had shifted underground over time from a nearby Catholic cemetery.
