There are many thought-provoking and deeply moving scenes in the Academy Award-winning film, Schindler's List. And there are specific moments in the film which render the viewing audience nearly breathless, and in which it is not uncommon to hear a sudden intake of breath or a muffled cry. Still, it is near the very end of the film -- when surviving Jews from Schindler's list of names file solemnly by the grave of Herr Schindler, each person placing a stone on the grave -- that a great depth of silence engulfs everyone watching the scene.
