There is a bit of wisdom that says: "If someone is 'into their cups' and alcohol has loosened the tongue, listen carefully. What the tongue is speaking is often very much the true opinion of the one to whom it belongs."
There are times when our "friends" hide from us their true thoughts. For this reason, the after-party scene can be quite pitiful as the damage control from a loose tongue begins. "I didn't mean what I said." Or, "I make no sense to myself or anybody when I drink." These are the usual excuses.
