There were five priests and six nuns who were put into a prison in southern China. With each prisoner in a separate cell, they soon developed a Morse code-type of system for sending messages by tapping on the walls that divided them. Eventually they were able to send messages up and down that line of cells. Then one of the priests died, and a new prisoner was put into that cell. After a while, that new prisoner began to hear tapping. He could hear that the tapping was starting in the most distant cell, and that it made its way up to his cell.
