Thomas Alva Edison, the great American inventor, seemed undaunted in his quest for ever new discoveries. On one occasion someone remarked to him about the huge number of failures he had encountered in his search for a new storage battery -- 50,000 experiments before he achieved results. Said the inventor, "Results? Why, I have gotten a lot of results. I know 50,000 things that won't work!"
