Thomas Barclay served as a Presbyterian missionary to Taiwan. After he passed away, one of his relatives was going through his belongings and found a yellow-aged paper called an Act of Commitment. It was discovered that the missionary had first signed the paper on his 16th birthday when he had been a student at Glasgow University. Barclay then continued to add his signature again every year on his birthday. The well-worn paper shows that he continued this practice through his 85th year.
