This is a true story. During a pre-wedding counseling session the mother of the bride asked to include the "obey part." When asked what she had in mind she said, "Keep the vows the way you have them written in the book for Jane, but change it so it reads like this for Tommy: "I Tommy, take you Jane, to be my wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to honor and obey, for the rest of my life or until Jane tells me differently."
