The United States Constitution states: "No person except a natural-born citizen, or a citizen of the United States at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President." (Article II.1.5) Even in this nation of immigrants and land of opportunity, we want our leaders to be of our own "flesh and blood." No foreign-born person, no matter how gifted or dedicated, can be considered for the high office of president because, after all, he/she is not "one I us."
