We could describe Jeremiah in a lot of ways, but never as a chameleon. He knew what he believed and he was willing to suffer shame and pain for it. I wish we Christians today had more strength of our convictions. Too many contemporary believers are quick to compromise. In this sense we are very much like chameleons. That little lizard often makes his bed on a green leaf. From time to time he moves from one plant to another. As he does, his color changes to dark green, brown, or nearly white, to blend in with the color of the leaf upon which he rests.
