We have lived so long...

We have lived so long with an understanding of the openness and inclusiveness of the Gospel that it is hard to comprehend what a turning point this moment in the book of Acts is for the young church. In spite of Jesus' ministry -- teaching and healing both Jews and Gentiles, in spite of Jesus' rejection of the temple and all it stood for, some followers of Jesus were still promoting an exclusively Jewish Christianity. To be a Christian you first had to be a Jew. Judaism had built a wall of law and tradition and custom around itself -- keeping all others out.
