When I was a youngster...

When I was a youngster I looked forward every summer to a two-week stretch of Vacation Bible School. My favorite moment was the opening time when we would sing a half-dozen favorite songs which my pastor father led. His favorite, and perhaps for that reason mine too, was a rousing gospel ballad which we'd use to rattle windows when we sang it at full tilt:
Around the throne of God in heaven
Thousands of children stand;
Children whose sins are all forgiven,
A holy, happy band, singing:
Glory! Glory! Glory be to God on high!
Around the throne of God in heaven
Thousands of children stand;
Children whose sins are all forgiven,
A holy, happy band, singing:
Glory! Glory! Glory be to God on high!
