When President Franklin D. Roosevelt suddenly died, Harry Truman, the Vice President, immediately became the President of the United States. He said, "I feel like the moon and stars have fallen on me." Young King David must have felt something like this. Suddenly, on the death of Saul, the people of Israel had taken this shepherd lad and made him their king. Whether or not David felt the weight of moon and stars, he certainly felt a great need for the help of God. He wished the Ark of the Covenant to be close by. He felt an urgent need for one beyond himself.
