The words of verses four through nine are on a small parchment scroll inside the mezuzah, a small case fixed to the doorpost by some Jewish families as a sign and reminder of their faith. Some will touch the case upon leaving and entering. What a wonderful way of reminding oneself of the transcendent claim of God upon both the public and private spheres of life. -- Kolsti
