A young man in North Carolina had been in a respiratory machine, or "iron lung" for many years, yet was an inspiration to all who knew him because of his service to God and his fellowperson. In spite of a great disability, he was county chairperson for the March of Dimes and consistently conducted fund-raising events from the confines of his metal bed. He refused to let a major disability keep him from a productive life of love and service. Through examples such as this we can see that when God chooses someone for ministry, he does not look at the "outward" person but at the gentle heart of that individual, filled with promise, possibility, and power.
