In any drama, the right setting for a scene can be key. The setting must set the mood for the action. This notion of setting creates an interesting question as we celebrate Christmas. As the drama of that miraculous birth unfolded, we find ourselves asking, "Why this setting? Why Bethlehem?" At first glance, it would seem that these surroundings, a dirty stable in a small barn in a small, violent town, do not set the right mood for the birth of the Son of God, the Prince of Peace. Is there a reason Bethlehem was chosen for the dramatic scene of the nativity?
