Blessed Are The Receivers
The church folks I have known are always ready to give. Getting them to receive is something else altogether. Namaan is not ready to receive without a lot of rigmarole but in the end in order to be healed he must accept the advice of a slave girl and the instructions of a prophet. The Celts in Galatia had offered Paul aid and comfort when he needed it but now they need to accept Paul’s gift to them — their own identity! And in Luke the apostles discover they are able to do great things, but only if they are willing to be radical receivers of hospitality.
