A GOSPEL TREASURY
Poems Based on Lectionary Gospels
Through the night it shone afar,
shone the strange and brilliant star.
Travelling with laden beast,
came the strangers from the east,
came to seek the infant there,
bringing precious gifts and rare.
Through the desert, on they came,
seeking him of Holy Name.
Westward to Jerusalem,
southward then to Bethlehem,
seeking him, the infant king,
seeking still their gifts to bring.
When they found the holy child
and his mother, undefiled,
there they laid their treasures down.
shone the strange and brilliant star.
Travelling with laden beast,
came the strangers from the east,
came to seek the infant there,
bringing precious gifts and rare.
Through the desert, on they came,
seeking him of Holy Name.
Westward to Jerusalem,
southward then to Bethlehem,
seeking him, the infant king,
seeking still their gifts to bring.
When they found the holy child
and his mother, undefiled,
there they laid their treasures down.
