FIRST: (ENTERS ALONG WITH SECOND READER) In the beginning God ... (READ SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH SECOND READER)
SECOND: ... God created the heavens and the earth.
BOTH: Now the earth was a formless void.
SECOND: And God's Spirit moved upon the face of the waters.
BOTH: God said,
FIRST: Let there be light.
BOTH: And there was light.
SECOND: God saw the light, that it was good and God divided the light from the darkness.
BOTH: God called the light ...
FIRST: Day.
BOTH: And the darkness He called ...
FIRST: Night.
SECOND: Evening came and morning came.
BOTH: The first day. (PAUSE) God said,
FIRST: Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters dividing the vapor above from the water below.
BOTH: And it was so. And God called the firmament ...
FIRST: Heaven.
SECOND: Evening came and morning came.
BOTH: The second day. (PAUSE) God said,
FIRST: Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place and let the dry land appear.
BOTH: And it was so. God called the dry land ...
FIRST: Earth.
BOTH: And the waters that were gathered together He called,
FIRST: Seas.
BOTH: And God saw that it was good. And God said,
FIRST: Let the earth put forth vegetation.
BOTH: And it was so. And God saw that it was good.
SECOND: Evening came and morning came.
BOTH: The third day. (PAUSE) God said,
FIRST: Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to separate the day from the night.
BOTH: And it was so.
SECOND: God made the two great lights, the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also.
BOTH: God set them in the sky to light the earth. And God saw that it was good.
SECOND: Evening came and morning came.
BOTH: The fourth day. (PAUSE) God said,
FIRST: Let the waters bring forth abundantly living creatures and let birds fly in the heavens above the earth.
SECOND: So God created every kind of sea creature and every kind of bird.
BOTH: And God saw that it was good. God blessed them saying,
FIRST: Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters and the earth.
SECOND: Evening came and morning came.
BOTH: The fifth day. (PAUSE) God said,
FIRST: Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds, cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth.
SECOND: God made all sorts of wild animals and cattle and creeping things.
BOTH: And God saw that it was good. Then God said,
FIRST: Let us make man in Our image, after Our own likeness to have dominion over all things and over all the earth.
SECOND: So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him, male and female He created them.
BOTH: God blessed them and God said to them,
FIRST: Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it. And have dominion over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.
BOTH: God blessed them.
SECOND: God saw all that He had made,
BOTH: And it was good.
SECOND: Evening came and morning came.
BOTH: The sixth day.
SECOND: Thus the heavens and the earth were completed and all that they contained.
BOTH: And on the seventh day God finished His work.
SECOND: He rested the seventh day from all His work which He had done.
BOTH: So God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy,
SECOND: Because on the seventh day God rested ... (READ SIMULTANEOUSLY)
BOTH: ... God rested from all the work He had done in creation.
