Prayer
Contemporary Lectionary Prayers
Cycle B
Gospel Note:
The elderly Simeon and Anna, both models of patient faith in
God and God's promises, here find their deepest hopes -- not just
for the vindication of Jerusalem but indeed for universal
salvation -- at last fulfilled in the person of the Christ-child.
Liturgical Color:
White
Suggested Hymns:
All praise To You, Eternal Lord
The Only Son From Heaven
I Leave, As You Have Promised Lord
Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence
In This Temple Now Behold Him
O Lord, Now Let Your Servant
Christmas 1
Thank you, Lord,
for sending messengers throughout centuries
and centuries of history.
We know that nothing can prevent your word
from reaching its intended goal.
You use both kings and shepherds, believers and
unbelievers to accomplish your will.
Doors open, doors close.
Nothing escapes your attention.
The message we have received is clear.
You love us without limit!
Your love is able to reach across every barrier.
Give us the eyes to see,
the will to respond, and
the courage to share your message with others.
Amen.
