Lectionary Worship Workbook
Series III, Cycle A
Object:
Litany Of Confession
P: Discord, dissention, strife,
C: anger, violence, hatred;
P: we confess to you, O God,
C: our schemes, our willful rebellion,
our hidden hostilities toward your children.
P: We confess to you, O God,
C: our lack of trust in your presence,
our need to control, our insatiable appetite for praise.
P: We confess to you, O God,
C: our fear of speaking the truth in love,
our self-hatred, our moments of utter despair
when we no longer believe you are at work in us.
P: Come and hear us now,
that what we try to hide from others
may not be hidden from you.
Silence for reflection and personal confession
P: God hears the cries of his children
and grants you pardon and forgiveness.
As a called and ordained minister of the Church of Christ,
and by his authority, I declare to you:
You are forgiven and set free.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, + and of the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen.
Prayer Of The Day
P: Shining in our darkness, O Lord, you give us the power to see each other as you see us. Call us into your light on this day, that together we may be filled with your eternal joy, where with the Father and the Holy Spirit you reign forever, one God, through all ages of ages.
C: Amen.
Offertory Prayer
A: We believe, O God, that your light brings us healing for everything that ails us, and we lift these gifts to you as signs of your holy promise, that lives lived in praise of you will be made new. We pray in the name of the one who offered himself, Jesus Christ our Lord.
C: Amen.
Benediction
P: Leaving their nets they followed you, gracious Lord.
May your light shine upon us as it did for the first disciples,
that our devotion would be as true,
and our hope fulfilled in your coming among us.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, + and of the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen.
Dismissal
A: The dominion of heaven has come near.
C: Thanks be to God.
