Call To Worship
Leader: The Word of the Lord shall endure forever! Praise be to the Lord!
People: Throughout the ages, in Christ the throne of David has stood fast.
Leader: No nation has prevailed against the Lord and no power can overcome God!
People: We serve the one true and almighty God, whose Word shall stand forever.
Leader: The promised Kingdom of God is come; let us lift our voices in praise!
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
Most holy and all-powerful God, You are the builder of all creation and Your Word shall never fail. In Christ You established Your Kingdom and against it none can stand. We praise You, Lord. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, so often we have seen Your promises through the eyes of our own unfaithfulness and not as the steadfast promises they are. Too often we treat them like we have our own word, breakable should we consider the conditions right to do so. Forgive us, Lord, and help us see in the gift of Christmas that Your promises are forever and they never fail. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"God, Whose Love Is Reigning O'er Us"
"Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise"
"Hail To The Lord's Anointed"
Fourth Sunday In Advent
Second Lesson: Romans 16:25-27
Theme: In Christ the Gospel is made known.
Call To Worship
Leader: The Lord has been merciful and has granted us redeeming grace!
People: Even while we were yet living in darkness, God sent us the Light.
Leader: Only through God's redeeming love do we receive the Good News.
People: In the gift of Christ we have been shown the fullness of God's love.
Leader: Then let us share God's gift with all the world in word and song!
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
Loving and gracious God, You have known our every need and so mercifully have You granted us the gift of life itself through the birth of Christ. Hear the song of joy in our hearts, Lord. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, so often we have taken for granted the wonderful gift that Christmas represents, and sometimes we have even gone so far as to feel we actually deserve Your mercy and grace. Forgive us, Lord, and as we come to the close of Advent, touch our hearts again with a genuine awareness of the areas in our lives where we failed to be the people You would have us be. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Ye Who Claim The Faith Of Jesus"
"God Has Spoken By His Prophets"
"I Want A Principle Within"

All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
Almighty and merciful God, through the life of Christ You showed us how genuine love lives and behaves, even when confronted by rejection and death. Dwell in our hearts, O Lord. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O God, in every way You have reached out to us so we might know of and accept Your love. You have sent Your prophets, but we would not hear. You sent Your Son, and we nailed Him to the cross. Forgive us, O God, and open the floodgates of Your Holy Spirit that we might share the Gospel of Christ here and in every land and among every people on earth. In Christ we pray. Amen.
