Sermons From Revelation For Lent And Easter
In 1741, a 56-year-old German living in England was at the lowest point in his career. He was awkward, overweight, had abnormally big hands and feet, and didn't speak very well, mixing the King's English with German, Italian, and French. He had suffered a stroke and was partially paralyzed on his left side. At the time, the popular entertainment was opera and oratorios, and this man wrote some very popular ones. He even wrote some biblical ones, one about Esther, and another about Saul, and one about Israel in Egypt. Old Testament stuff. But the audiences of the time could be cruel.
