O God Up Above
Worship
Lectionary Hymns for Cycle B
New Hymns for the Church Year Calendar with Old Familiar Tunes
Object:
1. O God up above, enthroned with great grace,
Shine forth in your love, revealing your face.
Come to us, O Saviour, give ear to each prayer
And show us your favour, remove our despair.
2. Restore us, O God, and we shall be saved
And publish abroad good news ever craved;
The news of salvation in Jesus the King.
With true adoration, your praises we sing.
3. O Shepherd of all, enthroned up on high,
Give ear as we call, hear your people cry.
How long will you tarry? How long must we wait?
While enemies carry their burdens of hate.
4. Stir up your full might. Oh, come now to save.
Bring us from dark night; make hearts to be brave.
Your light on our pathways shall keep our faith strong
To follow you always, while others may scorn.
5. O Christ on the throne, O King of great might,
We serve you, alone, fighting the good fight.
Assured of your blessing each step of the way,
Your name, thus confessing with grateful hearts pray.
6. Restore us, O Lord, great giver of grace.
God, ever adored, let us see your face.
Shine forth in your glory, a heavenly blaze.
Lord of sacred story, to you be all praise.
Advent 1
Based on Psalm 80:1-7, 16-18
May be sung to HANOVER, 10 10.11 11
