Collect
Almighty and merciful God, You heard the cries of the ancients and sent us the Christ. Hear our cries today and renew our spirits in this season even as You did in the days of old. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, so often as we enter the season of Advent we turn our attention toward all that must be done for the coming holidays and we fail to seek Your renewing presence in our lives. Forgive us, Lord. Come to us anew, restoring the joy in our hearts so that our lives might again be a witness to Your wonderful healing power and presence. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Come, Thou Almighty King"
"Abide With Me"
"Close To Thee"
First Sunday In Advent

All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
O God, in Your infinite wisdom You call us to love one another so we might know the joy in life You intended for us to receive. Fill our hearts daily, Lord, with Your loving presence. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O God, again and again You have called us to love one another so that we might know Your blessings, but we have turned away each to our own ways. Too often, Lord, we have even focused our lives on meeting only our own wants, and we have failed to see and hear the needs of a hurting world around us. Forgive us, Lord, and fill our hearts with Your holy presence. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Love Divine, All Loves Excelling"
"Come, Thou Fount Of Every Blessing"
"Jesus Calls Us O'er The Tumult"
First Sunday In Advent
Gospel: Luke 21:25-36

Call To Worship
Leader: Show us Your mercy, O Lord. Send us a sign of Your presence and love.
People: Grant us Your salvation, Lord, for we are weary and worn.
Leader: The Lord's Truth shall indeed be among us.
People: God's Righteousness shall come from heaven to be in our midst.
Leader: And there shall be peace to all who turn to God in their hearts.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
Almighty and merciful God, in the words of Christ You have called us always to be alert and true to Your call on our lives, for we have no guarantee of tomorrow. We praise You, O God. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, so often we have been like those of old who waited for You to send a Savior. We have prayed for You to deliver us from our circumstances, but we have not been willing to accept Your leadership in our lives. Forgive us, Lord, for not seeing Your presence around us and for acting at times like Jesus did not die for our sins. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Forward Through The Ages"
"Come, Christians, Join In Song"
"Living For Jesus"
