Series III, Cycle A
Prayer Of The Day
P: Merciful God, you gathered the outcasts of Israel and filled their hearts with joy. We pray that you would gather in those who are lost today, that united together in praise, every heart would be cleansed and every life made whole through Jesus Christ our Lord.
C: Amen.
Intercessory Prayer
After each petition:
L: God of the outcasts,
C: may your mercy prevail.
Offertory Prayer
A: Holy God,
C: in mercy and praise we discover again and again the depth of your love for us. May these gifts be signs of hearts that are filled with faith, love, and obedience. You are the source and destination of our lives and we give you thanks for all that you have given us through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Sending
Divide your congregation into three voices.
P: Let the people praise you, O God;
let all the people praise you.
I: With thankfulness for salvation,
II: with hope for a new future,
III: with a life of mercy and unending joy.

Service Notes
It's mid-August and many pastors are on vacation. It may be a day to invite a lay preacher from a healing vocation (doctors, nurses, EMTs, and so on) to speak about his/her experiences of persistent prayer and of healing.
It may also be the day to begin the service with a fifteen-minute hymnfest filled with hymns of praise. You'll be gone, and your congregation can sing all those hymns that you never pick!
