Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VII, Cycle C
Object:
First Lesson: Joel 2:23-32
Theme: God's Spirit On All
Call To Worship (based on Psalm 65)
One: Praise is due to you, O God, O you who answer prayer!
All: Happy are those whom you choose and bring near to live in your courts. We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house, your holy temple.
Women: By awesome deeds you answer us with deliverance, O God of our salvation; you are the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas.
Men: Those who live at earth's farthest bounds are awed by your signs; you make the gateways of the morning and the evening shout for joy.
Women: You visit the earth and water it, you greatly enrich it; the river of God is full of water; you provide the people with grain, for so you have prepared it.
Men: You crown the year with your bounty; your wagon tracks overflow with richness.
Women: The pastures of the wilderness overflow, the hills gird themselves with joy,
Men: meadows clothe themselves with flocks, the valleys deck themselves with grain, they shout and sing together for joy.
All: For this reason we praise you, and seek to honor you through our obedience.
Collect
Lord, it is our intent this morning to bless you as you have blessed us. Call us to the work of your kingdom. Let your will be done now and always. Yours is the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
God will give back the years we have lost, now or forever. Let us all, as sinners, turn back to the Lord. Then God's Spirit will rest on all of us, sons and daughters, young and old. Amen.
Hymns
Rejoice, The Lord Is King!
Dona Nobis Pacem
Open My Eyes, That I May See
