Cycle B, Series IV
Call To Worship
Leader: Come, let us hear of all the wonders God has done throughout the ages!
People: And let us learn from those who come before us lest we err as they did.
Leader: For even after the Exodus, God's people have quickly turned away.
People: Let us hear of their transgressions so we might be slow to displease God.
Leader: Let us always remember: God is our salvation and not any earthly power.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
O God, in Your divine mercy You have chosen to love us even when we have rejected You and demanded an earthly king like other nations. We thank You for Your patience, and we praise You, Lord. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O God, even today when we have the Scriptures that tell us of the mistakes made by the ancient ones, we still find ourselves insisting, as they did, that we can follow the ways of the world and still be faithful to You. Forgive us, Lord, and help us again to be Your faithful followers and to move away from anything that would interfere or come before You. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"God, Whose Love Is Reigning O'er Us"
"I Would Be True"
"Rock Of Ages"

Call To Worship

People: In the Good News we have the message of God's love and salvation.
Leader: For Christ was crucified on a cruel cross and died for the sins of all.
People: But in the resurrection of Christ we have the promise of eternal life.
Leader: Let all who have known God's love lift your voices in song and praise.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
Almighty Creator God, in Your omniscience, You have created us in an awesome and wonderful way, but our eternity rests in Your grace and our living faith in Christ. We praise You, Lord. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O Lord, too often we have let the signs of our mortality frighten us. As we age and our earthly bodies begin to fail, too often we forget the eternity You have promised us if we will only lean on Your grace and live our faith in Christ openly. Forgive us, Lord, and give us the courage to believe and rest our lives fully in Your loving and eternal care. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Standing On The Promises"
"My Hope Is Built"
"My Faith Looks Up To Thee"
Proper 5
Sunday between June 5 and June 11 inclusive
Gospel: Mark 3:20-35
Theme: God stands with those who believe and do God's will.
Call To Worship
Leader: Let us come together, all who find their safety in God's loving care.
People: For the dangers of the world are many and on our own we are weak.
Leader: But the Lord stands mighty against all evil that would harm us.
People: And we have peace in our hearts, for we know God will not fail.
Leader: Then let us lift our voices with joy for God's loving care.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
Almighty and eternal God, You have called us to be in Your Holy Kingdom if we will but follow Your will for our lives. Give us the courage to trust You and place all we have under Your command. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, so often in our pride we would stand on our own against all foes only to find ourselves trembling when faced by the forces of evil in the universe. So often in our arrogance we reject the loving care and protection You would so freely give us if only we would place our lives in Your loving hands. Forgive us, Lord, and stand with us always. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"A Mighty Fortress Is Our God"
"O Worship The King"
