Call To Worship
Leader: All thanks be to God, who sees that the jug of meal will not be emptied.
People: All thanks be to God, who promises that the vessel of oil will not fail.
All: All thanks be to God, who provides.
Collect
Gracious God, who supplies us with what we need to survive and more, to thrive, we worship you with grateful hearts. You know where we fall short. You are aware of our troubles. You respond with care and generosity. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Teach us, O God, to respond to your generosity by sharing with others what you have given us. Remind us that you do not abandon us when we are in need. You are a ready and trustworthy presence. Turn our fear to trust and our despair to hope. Amen.
40C Hymns1
"Praise To God" Tune: SAKURA
"Breathe On Me, Breath Of God" Tune: TRENTHAM
"Now Thank We All Our God" Tune: NUN DANKET
Proper 5
Sunday between June 5 and June 11 inclusive
Second Lesson: Galatians 1:11-24
Theme: The Turn Around
Call To Worship
We all carry a private list, a litany of hopelessness. In certain areas of our lives, we give ourselves up as lost. How remarkable that God finds us and then we find ourselves. How remarkable that the Creator has given us the capacity to turn around our lives. Come, let us know the transforming grace of God.
Collect
You find what is good about us, God, and draw us toward your goodness. You find what is lovable about us, God, and enable it to grow. You find what is the special truth about us and nourish this truth. We are grateful. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Turn us around, O God. Turn us away from what is wrong with us to what is right about us. Turn us away from the part that ruins toward that which builds up. Turn us away from our catalogs of hopelessness so we might compose a new list, an expectant, hopeful list of what is possible within us. Amen.
40C Hymns1
"Praise To The Living God" or "Crown Him With Many Crowns" Tune: DIADEMATA
"When In The Hour Of Deepest Need" Tune: WENN WIR IN HÉCHSTEN NOTEN SEIN OR
"Your Love, O God" Tune: GUDS KÛRLEK
"God Be With You" Tune: GOD BE WITH YOU
Proper 5
Sunday between June 5 and June 11 inclusive
Gospel: Luke 7:11-17
Theme: Tender Care
Call To Worship
In a sandpaper world where being tough appears all important, we set aside tenderness as something wimpy at best. We stiffen in heart and scowl in face rather than reveal a first response of anguish. Here in the company of God and others who try to live as Christians, we can become reacquainted with the strength of a tenderly spoken word. Come, let us worship our compassionate God.
Collect
You, O God, show us daily the breadth of your mercy and the depth of your kindness. Your compassion brings to us awareness of peace unknown from human sources. Your kindness turns us toward healing as nothing else can. We come to you as grateful and willing students. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Call forth our tender side, O God, so we might ease the grief and distress of those around us. Call forth our kind spirit, so we might quiet discord and friction within the community. Call forth our compassion, so we might walk with one on a difficult journey. In the spirit of Christ. Amen.
40C Hymns1

"Savior, Again To [Thy][Your] Dear Name" Tune: ELLERS
"There's A Wideness In God's Mercy" Tune: WELLESLEY
