When people have been brought through the seriousness of a great illness and then reflect on their life, they often rise from the sickness with two feelings. On the one hand, they feel God is calling them to a fresh start. On the other hand, they are haunted by the fear that the illness may return. Such must have been the experience of Noah, when he stepped out of the ark. Every cloud bank and fresh drop of rain made Noah feel insecure and afraid. To encourage Noah, God made a mutual agreement with him called a covenant.
