Seventh Sunday After Epiphany
Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VI, Cycle A
Object:
Theme: Moral Holiness
Call To Worship
God has summarized hundreds of moral directives in one word: love! Without love, our worship will consist of meaningless motions and empty words. Therefore, let us cast our anger and hatred, suspicion and jealousy aside, and let us worship in the spirit of love.
Invocation
We know, Lord, that while others look upon outward appearances, you look upon the heart, so we ask that as we prepare for worship our motives will be purified, our minds will be receptive, and our hearts open to the direction of your Holy Spirit. Amen.
Confession
O Lord, how often we have read and heard of your great love for all humankind, and especially for the poor and people with special needs. Yet we have gone on our merry way concerned mainly about our self and our own needs. We have stood in awe of the rich and looked with contempt upon the poor and outcast. Forgive us, we pray, and help us to respond with love to everyone we meet, following more closely in the footsteps of our Master, even Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
We bring these gifts to you, O Lord, and pray that you will take our love and make it represent the Christ in whose name we serve and share. Amen.
Hymns
"Dear Lord, Lead Me Day By Day"
"Take Time To Be Holy"
"The Gift Of Love"
