Seventh Sunday Of Easter
Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VI, Cycle A
Object:
Theme: Eternal Life Is To Know God
Call To Worship
Let us come before the Lord with minds open to his Truth, with hearts receptive to his Love, and with wills subject to his Spirit.
Invocation
As we worship this morning, our Heavenly Father, we pray that your Spirit will be our strength, your Word will be our guide, your Love will be our comfort, and your promises will be our hope. Amen.
Confession
Is it possible, Lord, that we get along so well because we never really take a stand? Could it be that people never raise their eyebrows at us simply because we try so hard to conform? Is it conceivable that others never ask about the hope that is in us because the evidence of that hope is not obvious? Could it be that people do not challenge our faith because they are not aware of that faith?
If these things are true, Lord, we stand humbled before you, begging that you will forgive our timidity, and beseeching you to help strengthen the courage of our convictions. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
O God, how selfish we would be if, having found the way, we would not point it out to others; and if, having known the truth, we would keep it secret; or having seen the light, we would leave our brothers and sisters in darkness.
Receive, then, these gifts, that others may find, and know, and see the truth of the living God, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Hymns
"Your Love, O God"
"Easter People, Raise Your Voices"
"O Crucified Redeemer"
