Matthew To Revelation
Object: some orange juice, toast, and cereal
Good morning, boys and girls. I brought along a few friends that I used this morning that I thought I would share with you and help us all to learn something about one of the teachings of Jesus.
First of all, you must be ready to tell me what these things remind you of when you see them together. (bring out the orange juice, toast, and cereal) Here are three of my very favorite things to eat. I love orange juice to drink, toast and cereal to eat, and I like them especially at a certain time of the day. What do these three things remind you of when you see them together? (let them answer) That's right; breakfast. Whenever you have two or three of these things gathered together you have breakfast. What a wonderful time of the day it is when you sit down to a good breakfast. It helps the whole day get off to a good start.
The same thing is true in a way about people, certain people. The Bible tells us that whenever you have two or three Christians gathered together that Jesus will be there also. It is like our church service on Sunday morning. You put us all together and let us sing our hymns, read our Bibles, and talk about God, and you can be sure that Jesus is here with us. You can feel him here just as you know that it is breakfast when you see orange juice, toast, and cereal sitting on the table. It just has to happen.
Jesus loves to share himself with us on a Sunday morning in worship or in Sunday school. He listens to what we say and gives us ideas about a better way to live. But the Bible tells us that this is not the only time when he is sharing his life with us. The Bible tells us that whenever there are only two or three of us together and we are sharing the name of Jesus that he will be there also. That means that Jesus could be with you when you are playing in your yard with your friends or at school when you are learning about his world or when you are eating dinner with your family. Whenever you meet with people who love God and like to share their lives with others, then Jesus will be there with you.
The next time that you sit down to eat some breakfast and you have a few things that you always eat that make you think of breakfast, I hope you will remember how often Jesus is ready to share his life with you and your friends who love him.
