Call To Worship
Every newborn is bright with promise. Every child is molded by circumstance and sin. Every son and daughter grows to flaw and fulfillment. Come to a dark place, where what we fear most comes to pass. Let us cry with David, "Would to God I had died." God will cry with us. God's Son died too soon as well.
Collect
Be present with us God, and walk with us through grief and beyond. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
With Mary kneeling, stunned and weeping at the foot of the cross, with David wailing over the news from battle, with Eve and Adam torn apart with their love for both their sons, with every mother and father wracked with anguish over the premature death of a child, and with you, who loved us so much you did not withhold your only begotten Son, but saw beyond to a day of transforming salvation for all, we pray this day. We come cautiously to a place where wounds are raw and open, where tears flow freely, and where memories both harm and heal. We cannot walk into this place as your people without you. Trusting in your grace we pray. Amen.

Call To Worship (Psalm 34:3)
O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.
Collect
Lord of all, we seek you in comfortable places and convenient moments, and wonder when it seems as if you are absent. Yet all along you are drawing us closer to you, to a spot and a time where those special ministries you have set apart for us push us past discomfort and inconvenience, toward victory and heaven. We thank you for these walls, these windows, these pews, these friendly faces, and we pray that you will bless us, then send us in mission to the world. Lord, your goodness is too great to keep to ourselves. We dedicate our lives to you. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, keep the sun shining a little longer today while we seek the source of our anger in order to be reconciled as your people. The time is very urgent. You have given us this day, this moment, to come together in your peace. Bless us. Keep us whole. Amen.

Lord Of Light, Your Name Outshining
Help Us To Help Each Other, Lord
You Shall Go Out With Joy

Gospel Lesson: John 6:35, 41-51
Theme: Complaints About The Server
Call To Worship (Psalm 34:1-8)
I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad.
O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.
I sought the Lord, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears.
Look to him, and be radiant; so your faces shall never be ashamed.
This poor soul cried, and was heard by the Lord, and was saved from every trouble.
The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them.
O taste and see that the Lord is good; happy are those who take refuge in him.
Collect
Lord Jesus we gather in awe at your wisdom, your mercy, and your sacrifice. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Gracious God, your grace is often met by our ingratitude. This day is too hold or cold. The scripture is read to slow or too fast, too flat or too emotionally. The people who worship with us are too still or too noisy. Before we complain again, we confess before the body of Christ that you are the Bread of Life. Forgive us our sins. Shelter us in the shadow of the cross. Amen.
