Third Sunday In Lent
Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VI, Cycle A
Object:
Theme: Jesus, Savior Of The World
Call To Worship
Leader: The hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth.
People: For the Father seeks such as these to worship him.
Leader: God is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.
People: Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; he is to be revered above all gods.
Invocation
As we come to worship and grapple with your Word, our Father, we realize that we are likely not only to be blessed, but also to be disturbed; not only to be comforted, but also to be confronted; not only to be soothed, but also to be sent. Open our eyes, O Lord. Help us to apply your Word, and expand our understanding. We ask in Jesus' name. Amen.
Confession
Lord Jesus, we confess that often we have been more interested in quenching our physical thirst than in seeking the living water from you. We have been concerned about food for our bodies, and ignored the Bread of Life which would strengthen us to do your will. Forgive us, we pray, and grant us the wisdom and the courage to be more worthy disciples. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
Lord, because we care, because we have hope, because we have faith, because we love, we bring these offerings. Amen.
Hymns
"Jesus, Keep Me Near The Cross"
"Fill My Cup, Lord"
"O Zion, Haste"
